Smart Guardrails are automated safety checks built into the ONCHAIN® Protocol Network (OPN).
They scan every token before it becomes available to buy or sell, filtering out contracts that appear unsafe, illiquid, or otherwise untradeable.
In simple terms, Smart Guardrails make a permissionless marketplace usable — you still have access to the long tail of on-chain assets, but without being exposed to obvious risks or unstable tokens.
Why they exist
Open networks invite innovation — and risk. Thousands of new tokens launch every week, many of them experimental or outright malicious.
Smart Guardrails act as an automated trust layer that checks for:
Liquidity integrity – does the token have enough active liquidity to trade safely?
Fair tradability – can you actually buy and later sell it?
Contract security – is the token’s code verified and free of known exploit patterns?
Only tokens that clear these checks become buyable through ONCHAIN®.
How it works
Each token request passes through an automated assessment powered by verified data providers such as GoPlus Labs.
The network looks for a wide range of risk factors, including:
Hidden or changeable contract ownership
Minting or balance-changing privileges
High or modifiable fees or slippage
Missing or locked liquidity pools
Honeypot, scam, or phishing behavior
If a token fails a critical check, it won’t be listed as available for trading.
You might see a message like “Not available for trading” or “Security risk detected.”
That means the token didn’t meet ONCHAIN®’s liquidity or safety thresholds.
These checks run automatically — no one at ONCHAIN® manually approves or rejects assets.
Continuous improvement
Smart Guardrails evolve as new risk patterns emerge. Assets that previously failed may become eligible once conditions improve, such as when liquidity deepens, contracts are verified, or a flagged issue is resolved.
