KYC (Know Your Customer) helps keep payments safe and compliant. On ONCHAIN®, you’ll only see a KYC prompt if it’s required for your specific purchase. If you aren’t asked, you can continue without it.
When you might be prompted
Whether KYC appears depends on the context of your purchase—factors like the payment method you’re using, the amount, and your location. These checks are triggered automatically in the background and also include AML/CFT screening (Anti-Money Laundering / Countering the Financing of Terrorism) to help keep the platform safe and compliant.
What the flow looks like
If KYC is required, you’ll complete it directly inside checkout. The steps are straightforward:
Provide basic details that match your ID.
Capture photos of a government-issued ID.
Complete a quick selfie or liveness check.
Most verifications finish in minutes. If a manual review is needed, it can take longer. You’ll see the result in-flow, and then you can continue your purchase.
Is it one-time?
For most customers, KYC is a one-time step. You generally won’t be asked again unless your limits or circumstances change. KYC on ONCHAIN® is designed to apply across various ONCHAIN® services, including those added at future dates.
Privacy and data handling
KYC information is used for compliance and fraud prevention and is stored securely with restricted access. For details on how your information is handled, see our Privacy Notice.
KYC checks on ONCHAIN® are processed by our third-party provider, Sumsub, which specializes in secure identity verification. You may also review Sumsub’s Privacy Policy for information on how they process KYC data.
If you run into issues
Small things often resolve the fastest:
Make sure your document is valid and unexpired and your legal name matches the ID exactly.
Take photos in even lighting with all edges of the document visible.
For the liveness check (if requested), remove hats/glasses and hold still for a clear capture.
If you still can’t complete verification, contact support and we’ll help. Click the chat bubble in the corner, or email [email protected] (including any error messages helps).
